Marah Owecke, (she/her/hers), is a Clinical Social Work Associate who provides confidential, client centered counseling to pre-teens, teens, and adults.
We are capable of change, growth, and healing ourselves. Therapy is a safe space to examine oneself, one’s trauma, and work towards health, healing, and higher functioning. Marah works with individuals of all ages, with a special interest in teens and young adults. Individuals who may be navigating issues related to anxiety, depression, life and lifestyle changes, shame, trauma, identity, and insecurity can work towards personal growth and empowerment.
Clinically, Marah is passionate about client-centered work, as well as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness-based therapy, narrative therapy, and Internal Family Systems therapy. In addition to these various evidence-based practices, Marah is interested in combining traditional
talk therapy with movement exploration with the intention of tapping into the deep knowledge that your body holds.
Marah is committed to walking with you as we explore the patterns, stories, and struggles that limit you. You have the power to heal within you.
Education, Training, & Experience
Marah’s education includes a Master of Social Work with a focus on Mental Health from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She gained crucial skills as a therapist during her master’s-level Clinical Internship at Madison Mental Health Services as a Psychotherapy Intern. Additionally, Marah has gained valuable insight from her experiences working in end of life care, as well as with children, youth, and families from diverse cultural backgrounds.
In addition, Marah holds a Bachelor of Arts from Luther College where she studied Social Work and Dance. Her study and certification as a Registered Yoga Teacher 100 Level, as well as a dance student, has instilled in Marah a passion for including the body as a key element of understanding and healing.
As a Licensee with the Oregon Board of Licensed Social Workers, Marah abides by the Social Work Code of Ethics.
Marah is a dancer, therapist, and life-long student. She believes that the body is an intelligent source of knowledge and healing. Through movement, body awareness, mindfulness, and creative expression there is an ability to learn, create, and heal. Everything that we have endured in life our body has experienced too.
Growth, empowerment, and wellness are possible when we are willing to put in the work. But that work is hard and painful—therapy is a safe space to be supported, listened to, and guided through your journey.
