An “open boat” trip consists of a trip with individual passengers paying separately. Generally we need a minimum of 4 passengers per trip in order to sail. A “charter” is generally a group of passengers such as a family , who want the boat themselves and pay the “charter” fee.
6 hour TRIPS - Cancellation 48 HOURS or more before departure.: Refund eligible Cancellation within 48 HOURS or less: We will retain the deposit.
10 and 12 hour TRIPS - Cancellation 78 HOURS or more before departure: Refund eligible. Cancellation within 78 HOURS: We will retain the deposit.
All “open” party fishing trips (not all one group) have required passenger minimums to depart. If the minimum passenger requirements have not been met for that day, the trip will be subject to cancellation. We will inform you 48 hours in advance if there is a situation regarding minimums.
Customers will receive a full refund or re-book (your preference) in case of cancellation due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Contact us by phone to cancel or inquire about a re-book.
We do not take guests out in rough ocean conditions, it's not safe, it's not comfortable and its not fun! We know this is a disappointment especially to folks that are traveling and have waited all year for this trip. We will make all efforts to re-book or provide a “calm water” option such as in Yaquina bay. Otherwise all deposits or payments will be refunded. If your trip is canceled “out on the water” or cut short because of weather, you will be refunded or pro-rated to both parties satisfaction.
We can take up to 6 passengers on most trips. Tuna trips are limited to 4 passengers
Yes, we love families with their children. We recommend the minimum age be 6 years old for most “open boat” fishing trips (6 hrs plus). We also recommend 12 year old minimum for our 12 hour “open boat” offshore trips (Halibut and Tuna). If you have younger children we suggest you consider chartering the boat to allow flexibility for your crew.
Sometimes folks who do not spend their lives at sea feel queasy when out on the ocean. If you have any thoughts that this may be you, it is advisable to take steps to avoid motion sickness. Bonine (Dramine) may work but you must take it before your time on the ocean so your system has adequate time to absorb its benefits. Look for advice on your reservation confirmation.
Trip prices include fishing tackle, bait, crabbing gear, water and coffee.
On the Bluefin, our Captains take pride in their gear and will provide you with high quality light and heavy fishing tackle specifically suited to the target species. We are on the water daily and know the lures and bait that have been producing for the conditions on your trip. We have electric reels for use on the deep water trips. Clients are welcome to use their own fishing tackle especially that lucky lure!
On the “Bluefin” we make every effort to handle and care for your catch so it is the best quality possible when it reaches your table. We bleed and ice down all your fish during your trip, so it retains the highest quality of freshness. Your fish will be filleted at the dock by expert local fish cleaners and then iced down again (provided) for you trip home. Fish cleaning and crab cleaning available for $2.00 a Rockfish /crab. Salmon filleting is $5.00.
Unfortunately , the gangway to get on the Bluefin requires 2 steps which cannot be negotiated with a wheelchair
